PSA Medal for Altered Reality 2013 International Images for

Screen Exhibition goes to…. Vicki – Lea Boulter!

Oh my goodness!!!
Found out this week I have been awarded a PSA Medal (Photographic Society of America) by the Royal Photographic Society, as well as a Ribbon for ‘Cirque’ in the International Images for Screen Exhibition 2013, Altered Reality category.

Being fairly new to the RPS I did not realise just how fabulous this news is but after further investigations it seems not only was the competition open to the 12,000 RPS members but outside participants too. Out of the thousands of entries the images were short listed to these: All Selected Entries and then 29 Award winners were selected from those… this is a list of the final winners: Award Winners

The ‘PSA Medal’ is the award for ‘The Best Exhibitor in the Show’ based on the highest aggregate of scores from the images selected (3 of mine were selected, one of which scored 15 out of 15 and was also awarded the PSA Ribbon).

I would like to thank the RPS for this wonderful recognition. For years I have wanted people to sit up and take notice that woman of all shapes and sizes can look beautiful in an image – and this can be done through a variety of contemporary genres too….. not just in a cliché fashion pose. It finally feels my message is being heard.

Here is a little more about the competition and the Exhibition, for anyone interested….

The Royal Photographic Society’s 2013 International Images for Screen Exhibition (formerly the International Projected Image Exhibition) was open to members and non members of The Society.

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded in each category. The Exhibition has been awarded Recognition by the Photographic Society of America (PSA) for the seventh consecutive year.

The inaugural showing of the exhibition and presentation of awards by the RPS president will be hosted by the RPS London region on 31st October (where I will be attending to collect my Award!)

This year there were 3 categories.

1. In Camera (excluding Nature) PSA PID Division
2Altered Reality (excluding Nature) PSA PID Division
3. Nature (Nature images should only be entered into the Nature category) PSA Nature Division

Selected images in all 3 categories are eligible for PSA Star Ratings and Who’s Who listings. The Judges were:

In Camera: John Chamberlin FRPS MFIAP, Donal McCann FRPS, Karen Berry FRPS
Altered Reality: Mark Mumford FRPS, Cathy Roberts FRPS EFIAP DPAGB & BPE2*, Susan Brown FRPS EFIAP DPAGB
Nature: John Chamberlin FRPS MFIAP, Karen Berry FRPS,  John Bebbington FRPS

(Each judge allocates a maximum of 5 points, making the total score achievable 15).

Here are my 3 Successful images, starting with ‘Cirque’ which was Awarded the PSA Ribbon (Model Kayleigh Pattle), Followed by ‘The Mermaid’ (Model Rosie Cawthorne) and ‘Missing’ (Model Paula Hames).

If any of you are interested in joining the RPS please drop me a line as I have received some vouchers from them which reduces the annual membership fee.
